Summary: A blog for sales account professionals to apply the highest concepts taught to marketing professionals at Masters Degree level in Marketing Communications. Simply so you can add more value for each customer, and give you an edge.

Hello World,

A bit about me.

I love marketing, and have a background including a MA in Marketing Communications. This includes market research (including M.R. design, and was mad enough to do some surveying once when we did some interviewing at a train station battling rush hour commuters for a train operator study – oh the stupidity – and barely survived – and yes, we also gave clipboard with paper surveys a try to look official [you’re now laughing and shaking your head], and gleefully typed in the results into SPSS), consumer psychology (hmm I’m still studying this one even today – and the course is over!), advertising methods, public relations, direct marketing, sales promotions and pricing. All the things that psychologically nudge people towards a sale, and this also crosses over with elements of experiments carried out in behavioral economics.

I work in sales, and find it takes a long time to make a call, speak to a gate keeper, and try to call your way up or to get a meeting. So, using my background in marketing communications, I made my job much easier to engage the people I want with an email in a very nice way.

You see, if you go to a meeting, most people decide within seconds if they like you, and try to confirm why they like you. An email is the same, if it looks a bog standard low value email that any 12 year old could write, and has absolutely no relevance when they read your email, you get rejected. This happens if you try again tomorrow, the day after, next week, and then two weeks later, all you are doing is help them confirm you can’t ever, never, ever, have relevance when they by accident speak to you… and then they tell you they are busy and can’t offer a time to speak – Ouch!

I want to change this for you.

A good email opens doors

A good email gets attention, a second good email will get the executive pretty much ready to speak to you. Among a batch of similar low value emails, you will get chosen for a phone call etc.

Just read some of my tips, and create your own version of your tests for yourselves. These are ideas for you to discuss and think about. I don’t know every industry and job title you are trying to engage, but I may help you innovate a new email.

Disclaimer Part:

Of course, all actions you take with your emails and email contact lists or processes are at your own discretion. So, Jason Li is not liable for anything that you do yourself. If in doubt, don’t do it. Got to repeat this one: If in doubt, don’t do it. Also, my advice is for you to consult thoroughly with your legal representative in your company before you send any emails where you have any doubts.

JBot, my Virtual PA Chatbot

As a non-developer learning coding such as Python and database design like SQL, I’ve took some code and made some amendments to make my own Chatbot. I hope it gives you an idea of a Chatbot and what they can do. Just click the link below. Also, I’ve included the blog post about this too below the link.

Directors Consultation:

If you’re a Sales Director/ VP or Marketing Director of a big organisation, then feel free to have a free consultation with me. I have to be picky, and if you ask your Director to ask for my unbiased opinion, I won’t charge. I won’t write your email, but give you a few pointers to consider that can help a department as a whole in one go.

No little requests please:

I can’t multi-task 100s of little requests @ £10 each as a freelancer so please don’t make any little requests or ask for small favours.

Want to hire me? Yes it’s possible

If you want to hire me as an employee, then go to my LinkedIn profile and get to know me and see where you would like me to be in your organisation. I live around the London area, and have a passion also for databases and software in general, and of course lots of client interaction. Most of my employment has been new business sales or account manager with elements of upselling and solving technical problems.

Many people say I’m nice to work with, very inquisitive and like to discuss ideas to improve things… but always best to find out for yourself.
